LYMA laser £1,999.00
LYMA laser PRO £5,995.00
What it does
The LYMA laser reduces the appearance of blemishes, fine lines, scaring, redness, pigmentation and wrinkles on the body and the face. LYMA tools are currently the only products on the market licensed to provide low-level laser treatment for yourself at home. They are different to more invasive laser treatments as they don’t use heat to stimulate collagen production by damaging the skin cells, that means there is no pain, no downtime and you could see effects after using it a few minutes a day over time. It is a clinical grade product designed for use from the comfort of your own home. The original LYMA is a smaller device containing one laser, the PRO is a larger device containing three lasers.
Why it’s great for brides to be
This is a great option for skin firming as it offers potential benefits with a non-invasive technique. I usually have contact with my brides about a year before their wedding date and my advice is to avoid any invasive beauty treatments as there’s always a risk something could go wrong. This could mean having no time to time to heal properly/correct any mistakes made before the wedding. Instead, I suggest relying on sculpting facials and a tailored skin care routine to improve the look and feel of the skin on the lead up to a wedding day. Adding the LYMA laser to this skin care approach is an easy, safe and non-invasive way to achieve results without the risks of more invasive options.
How to use it
There are two ways to use the LYMA lasers. First, hold the laser in direct contact with the area of skin you want to treat. You can either hold the laser in one position for three minutes before moving to the next area or use the laser as a gua sha tool by passing it over the skin in smooth motions.
You can use the lasers with the skincare products recommended by the brand which provide a smooth surface for them to glide over, alternatively, you can use your preferred face oil or cream. They can be used daily as part of your skincare routine, any time of the day and over makeup if you’re on-the-go. Even though both tools are designed for use on the face and body. I prefer the smaller tool for the face as it fits more comfortable into the facial contours.
Does it work?
LYMA kindly invited me to their HQ to try out their lasers. I had a beautiful facial designed to compliment the use of the lasers and teach me how to use it - it’s incredibly easy. I can say that my skin felt and looked beautiful afterwards. Over the next few days I felt as if my skin was a little more sculpted, but I’m unsure how much was due to the facial or the lasers themselves as the device needs to be used consistently over time to see solid results.
I looked into the science behind the tools and it appears to check out. As I haven’t used this tool over a period of time myself I can’t comment on its long term effectiveness, but it’s something I would happily add to my routine. It is marketed as completely safe, and personally, I didn’t experience any side effects during or after use.
Is it supported by science?
Yes - The LYMA lasers are FDA approved and have a solid base of evidence behind them which has been building from the 1960’s. The cold, near infrared laser light works by deeply penetrating the skin. It stimulates the cells to produce more collagen and elastin whilst increasing circulation that provides the skin with more oxygen and nutrient delivery. Overall, the LYMA tools are designed to improve the building blocks of the skin to make it look firmer and smoother over time.
Where can I buy it?
Head straight to the LYMA website to purchase the Original and PRO lasers. You can also grab a LYMA starter kits from Harrods.
FAQ’S: General
Can the LYMA laser be used on deeper skin tones?
Yes. Some laser treatments put people with deeper skin tones at greater risk of scaring, hyperpigmentation and inflammation due to the level of melanin in the skin and are not recommended for use. As this laser does not cause damage to the skin in order to work it is safe to use on all skin tones.
It’s unique
The LYMA is currently the only one of its kind - a clinical grade, FDA approved, cosmetic device using patented technology which is endorsed by plastic surgeons, scientists and clinicians. All of these factors go toward making the price point higher than other at home beauty devices on the market.
